Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard
(PCI-DSS)

The Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) was developed through joint effort by the major credit card companies (Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Diner's Club, Discover, JCB) in order to establish a standard set of regulations for all members, merchants, and vendors who transmit, process, or store cardholder data. The PCI-DSS consists of twelve requirements, which are organized around six basic elements, including Build and Maintain a Secure Network, Protect Cardholder Data, Implement Strong Access Control Measures, and Maintain a Vulnerability Management Program.
