Ken Chow, General Manager, Software Protection Business Unit
Rights Management & Licensing Overview
Mr. Chow joined SafeNet in January of 2005 as Vice President of Marketing - Rights Management Business Unit overseeing
marketing and product management for the Rights Management product lines. In April of 2006 he was promoted to General
Manager of the Software Protection Business Unit. In this role, he oversees the Unified Software Protection portfolio
of products.
Prior to joining SafeNet, Mr. Chow served as Vice President of Marketing and Product Management for Group 1 Software,
where he was responsible for all corporate marketing activities of the $100 million enterprise software vendor, including
the administration of all product management activities and strategic technology partnerships. Previously, he held
senior positions at organisations including Pacific Group, Bell South, MTC Corporation, One Touch Systems, Network Alchemy,
and Telemanagement Associate, an organization he owned and co-founded.

Christopher Davis, Software Engineer
Deciding on a Licensing Solution
Christopher Davis currently serves as a Software Engineer for Elekta. Chris joined Elekta in October 2001 and has worked
on several projects involving both in-house and Sentinel LM 5.0 licensing software.
Chris has recently begun to specialise in software security and is the Engineering Leader on a company-wide licensing project.
Chris achieved a 1st class BEng (Hons) in Electronic & Computer Engineering from Portsmouth University and graduated in 1998.
He also attained chartered (CEng) status in 2005.

Lars Schiemanck, Vice President Corporate Technology

Lars Schiemanck is Vice President Corporate Technology at Medis, and is responsible for strategic software technology and
operational IT. Lars first joined Medis in 1993 as a Product Support Specialist, but was promoted in 1996 to Operations
Manager, and then again to Technical Director in 1998.
Prior to Medis, Lars held a research position on medical digital image processing at Leiden University, and was a Project
Manager of Software Engineering at BTU Technology dealing with high tech metal working machines and automation.
Lars holds an MSc in Electrical engineering and Computer Science from the Eindhoven University of Technology.

Russell Franks, Chief Technology Officer
Challenges of Licensing Within a Large Group of Companies
Russell Franks is CTO of Planit Holdings, plc, and is responsible for all the group's software development within the
group. Ater 5 years as a research scientist for the Meteorological Office, Russell joined Radan (later to become one of Planit's companies) in 1992 as a
software developer, and worked on various C and C++ projects before becoming the product manager for their CAM applications. After spending 3 years in the
US as a technical director for a sister company, he returned to take overall responsibility for software development.
Russell holds a 1st class BA in Physics from Oxford University.

Rob Scarr is a Group Leader in Quantel's R & D department, where he has worked for 27 years. As well as managing a number
of R & D projects, he is responsible for all aspects of software security within Quantel. Apart from security, his main
current interest is in content and asset management in the broadcast environment

Sean Akers, Software Developer
The Migration from Flex to Sentinel: Developing a SafeNet Flex Emulator for Legacy Applications
Sean Akers has been a software developer at Romax Technology Ltd since November 1998. Sean is responsible for the
implementation of product licensing within the Romax Designer application, as well as system programming tasks in Smalltalk.
Prior to joining Romax, Sean was a C++ programmer at Serif SPC (Europe) Ltd where he was instrumental in designing and
developing much of the user interface for the DrawPlus 4 product. Before joining Serif, Sean spent 3 years at GPT Ltd.
where he worked on several telecommunications management applications in C++, using the Shlaer-Mellor methodology.

Jam Khan, Product Manager, Sentinel RMS
Licensing Models in Use in the Industry
Jam Khan currently serves as Product Manager-Sentinel RMS, for SafeNet, Inc. Jam joined Rainbow Technologies in 1996 and
remained with the Rights Management Business Unit created after SafeNet acquired Rainbow.
After working as a Software Developer, Jam progressed to Professional Services Engineer. In this role, he developed custom
electronic rights management solutions and supported clients in the field of secure authentication and software protection.
Jam also supported several Fortune 100 clients with their deployments of digital certificates and tokens. He earned a BSc
in Computer Science from the University of California, Los Angeles.
