Over the past few years, SafeNet has continuously sharpened its focus on protecting high value data with data-centric products and solutions that seamlessly extend trust from the data center to the cloud for both government and enterprise customers.
We hear time and again from both our government and enterprise customers that they need highly secure, flexible and scalable solutions that will help them migrate data to and from the cloud. This year we further strengthened our data protection portfolio for virtual and cloud environments through the launches of StorageSecure, ProtectV and SafeNet Authentication Service.
All of these products provide our global, commercial, federal and enterprise customers with the security infrastructure, scale and innovative protection necessary to secure high value data in today’s environment of advanced threats. In addition, they help remove the challenges that so often cause business disruptions and stall cloud/virtual deployments, achieving greater business efficiencies and cost savings which are critical in today’s business climate.
As the information landscape becomes more complex, we need to continue and accelerate investments in data protection solutions that will protect data in the post-breach environment. In order to do so, we made a strategic decision to divest product lines that were largely defense related and customized for the government information security market. As a result, we closed a deal today to sell our Government Solutions business unit to a recognized leader in the defense industry.
It is important to note that we will continue our long and successful history of providing both government and enterprise customers with market leading and innovative data protection solutions. Today’s announcement does not have any impact on our software rights management customers.
It also does not impact our commercial government and enterprise customers that are using our data protection solutions, specifically:
- Storage, Cloud and Virtual Environments;
- Strong Authentication and Identity Protection;
- Data Encryption and Control;
- Assured Information Sharing; and
- Mobile Environments
The product lines that we are divesting to Raytheon are specialized for the defense communities, specifically the US federal government. This includes the KIV-7M, embeddable crypto modules, satellite communications and KG-340/KG-345. SafeNet and the buyer have transition agreements in place that will ensure a smooth transition and that there are no disruptions in sales or technical support.
We take great pride in our long history of being a trusted security solutions provide to the US government and government agencies around the world. This recent announcement does not change that and we look forward to continuing to develop market leading data protection and rights management solutions that protect our government customers most critical data and intellectual property for many years to come.
