First Point Global Partners with SafeNet to Secure Customers’ Virtual and Cloud Computing Environments

Partnership Driven by Customer Demand to Securely Deploy Sensitive Data to VMware-based Private Clouds and Public Clouds such as Amazon Web Services

SafeNet Inc., a global leader in data protection, today announced that leading Australian identity and access management solutions provider First Point Global has become a Platinum Partner and will deploy SafeNet’s solutions to secure its customers’ virtual and cloud computing environments.

The partnership between SafeNet and First Point Global has been driven by organisations’ growing demands to deploy sensitive data to virtual and cloud environments while ensuring their security. Many of these organisations must also comply with government and industry information security standards or are subject to external audits.

Securing cryptographic keys within virtual environments such as private clouds based on VMware and cloud services like Amazon Web Services is becoming a priority for our government, healthcare and financial services customers,” said Jan Zeilinga, chief technology officer and founder of First Point Global. “SafeNet provides a clean and elegant solution for securing these keys, and our comparative analysis of competing offerings found it to be the optimum solution.”

First Point Global will deploy and manage SafeNet KeySecure – a hardware-based security appliance that centrally manages encryption keys from multiple, disparate encryption platforms – for its customers. With keys and defined user access controlled by KeySecure, organisations can secure all data, whether it resides locally, virtually or in the cloud.

The partnership agreement also includes access to SafeNet’s data protection solutions including ProtectV™, the industry’s first comprehensive high-assurance solution for securing data in the virtual datacentre and the cloud. With encryption of virtual machines and storage volumes coupled with pre-launch authentication, ProtectV can isolate sensitive assets and maintain data ownership even in shared, multi-tenant clouds.

“Our customers need to protect the private information entrusted to them by citizens, customers, business partners and employees,” said Zeilinga. “Cryptographic controls provide a convenient way to protect these assets, such as health records or financial data. However, protecting the private key, the secret, is a challenging task. That is the security issue that SafeNet solves for our customers.”

“SafeNet is delighted to partner with an organisation with the technical expertise and security knowledge of First Point Global,” said Vince Lee, SafeNet regional director, Australia and New Zealand. “The partnership will help SafeNet meet the growing demand to secure virtual and cloud environments with cryptographic solutions. Currently strongest in regulated sectors like financial services and healthcare, that demand will continue to expand as awareness of security issues and their solutions grows, particularly with the potential for new data breach notification laws.”
