SafeXcel 810 - Secure Programmable Controller for Smart Card Reader Applications
The SafeXcel™-810 Transaction Series chip is designed for stand-alone
smart card readers and keyboards with built-in smart card readers. The
availability of display, keypad and smart card interfaces makes the SafeXcel-810
suitable for many applications.
Overview
Combining secure PIN entry, an LCD interface, two smart card interfaces,
a 24 MHz 8051 compatible processor and three cryptographic accelerators,
the SafeXcel-810 performs all encryption functions necessary to make a
smart card reader secure. Interfaces are provided for USB, RS232, and
serial EEPROM/SRAM.
The embedded 8051 processor has 48K bytes Program Flash (lockable), 16K
bytes RAM, and 16K bytes Data Flash.

protocols T=0 and T=1 in accordance with ISO7816 and EMV
- Supports Class A and Class B cards
- 32 programmable, open drain, bi-directional I/O pins that are accessible
by the 8051 (General Purpose I/O)
- PKI accelerator supporting key lengths up to 2048 bits
- Performs 1024 bits verify operation within 55ms
- DES unit with software support for 3DES and feedback modes
- True Random Number Generator
- Watchdog Timer
- Little-endian oriented Secure Hashing based on SHA-1 specified in
FIPS PUB 180-1
- Software support for a 21 columns, 8 rows, 3LEDs keyboard / keypad
