Transparent data encryption and decryption

All data on the hard drive is encrypted and decrypted automatically without any additional interaction by the authenticated user. No training is required for general users to derive the security benefits delivered by ProtectDrive, and in most instances, only basic administrator training and knowledge will be required for deployment and ongoing administration.

Single sign-on

Pre-boot password or token log-in credentials can automatically be passed on to the Windows post-boot authentication environment enabling single sign-on to Windows. This means that once the user has been successfully authenticated during the pre-boot authentication process, re-entry of credentials is not required at the Windows log-in screen.

Multi user accounts

To enable laptop and workstation sharing, several hundred user accounts can be easily established for pre-boot authentication on a single device.

Remote Password Recovery

ProtectDrive enables a recovery screen on the locked out device to display a one-time code which must be communicated to a trusted administrator who conducts a security check on the user. Entry of this code into the trusted administrator’s recovery console, along with the user’s name, generates a one-off password that can be communicated to the user. The user can successfully authenticate using this one-time password and must then reset their personal password once the operating system is active.

Multiboot

Multiple Windows operating systems (such as Windows 2000, 2003, NT, XP) can be seamlessly encrypted and decrypted on a single computing device. Non-Windows operating systems, such as Linux and Solaris, can also be run on a device utilizing ProtectDrive.

Minimal performance loss

No noticeable delay occurs during the normal hard drive encryption operations of ProtectDrive and only 6mb hard drive space is required.
