ProtectFile Business encrypts entire folders of files and ensures permission-based access to electronic data is granted only to authorized individual users and groups.

ProtectFile Business enables decentralized management capabilities, allowing the dedicated ProtectFile Administrator the ability to grant user access rights to protected folders within their relevant area of responsibility.

The ProtectFile Business Management Console allows the optional central administration of all ProtectFile Business users and all encrypted folders. The ProtectFile Business Central Management Console allows:

Network administrators can be relieved of the duties of managing general user access and encrypted directories. This enables greater concentration on more important network issues and reduces ProtectFile's total cost of ownership.

ProtectFile's Central Management Console allows dedicated ProtectFile Administrators to create and manage encrypted directories, plus control user access to these directories.

Smart Card/Token recovery

ProtectFile’s Central Management Console easily enables the content of a lost or damaged token to be reinstated in a new token device. Security is maintained throughout this process requiring a valid security officer’s token to initiate and authenticate the content of the replacement token.

Decentralized user management

Team leaders can be designated as ProtectFile Administrators for their designated group of file folders. The ProtectFile Administrators can easily specify who is able to access relevant folders.

For example, the Financial Controller may be designated as a ProtectFile Administrator for the team within the accounting department. This individual will have rights to all folders of files relevant to the accounting department stored on the file server. Access rights to payroll folders may only be allocated to specific payroll staff, whilst budgetary and P&L folder rights may only be allocated to financial officers.

All other employees, including IT administrators, will not be able to gain access to these files in a clear text/non-encrypted format.

Remote password recovery

ProtectFile enables a simple and very secure method to alleviate the difficulties generally experienced with remote password recovery.

A user, who has forgotten their password, must call the administrator whom will conduct an identity check and deliver instructions on how to invoke the ProtectFile recovery screen. The user then locally initiates their recovery screen that displays a one-time challenge. The user then verbally communicates the displayed challenge to the administrator, whom enters this challenge into their administrator’s recovery console, along with the user’s name. A once off remote password is then generated and displayed on the administrator’s Recovery Console, which should then be communicated to the user.

The user can then successfully authenticate with this one-time password and must then reset their previous password.

Enforced directory encryption

Deployment of ProtectFile Business across IT infrastructures of all sizes can be streamlined from a central point of management. The administrator can centrally enforce the encryption of specific folders and pre-allocate user access from a remote location. This dramatically saves deployment time, resources and cost.
