ProtectHost White specifically meets the needs of payment processors, card issuers, acquirers, switches, merchants and e-payment solution providers to adhere to American Express, Diners Card, JCB, MasterCard and VISA standards. The ProtectHost White HSM performs application-level cryptographic and key management processing on behalf of the host computer to which it is attached. It delivers secure key storage, DES, 3DES and RSA cryptographic processing, PIN encryption, digital signature generation & verification, secure key loading, plus PIN and key mailer printing.

ProtectHost White delivers excellence in four critical transaction security fields: Security, Performance, Extensive Command Set and Applications and Easy Management.

Security

ProtectHost White provides physical and logical protection to cryptographic keys preventing unauthorized access to highly sensitive key information. Tamper resistant and responsive secure casing and circuitry, physical key locks, battery backed secure key storage, automatic cryptographic key erasure upon tamper detection, plus smart card cryptographic key transfer, ensure the ultimate level of secrecy/integrity of keys and sensitive data.

Broad availability of Performance Levels

Scalable transaction throughput can be cost effectively achieved through a choice of performance levels and load-sharing software. ProtectHost White can be easily upgraded and configured to suit numerous performance levels to meet the specific needs of your application. Performance levels available include:

PL20 host functions (~20 operations/sec)
PL140 host functions (~140 operations/sec)
PL280 host functions (~280 operations/sec)
PL560 host functions (~560 operations/sec)
PL1200 host functions (~1200 operations/sec)

Extensive suite of Command Sets

Typical usage applications include securing retail payment systems such as ATM and EFTPOS networks, e-purse systems and credit-card based Internet payment processing. This is addition to clearing & settlement systems, Internet/mobile banking based on one-time password (OTP) and two-factor authentication technology, and other financial transaction systems. Likewise, dedicated functionality for issuing smart cards and magnetic stripe cards in the payment, ID and telecommunications sectors is provided.

The ProtectHost White platform can support different Eracom Technologies’ HSM applications, including:

Mark II - that meets global payment processing and EMV standards;
Australian Major Banks (AMB) - that meets APCA (Australian Payments Clearing Association) standards;
Card Issuance – that supports PIN and key issuance, data preparation and personalization of consumer transaction cards (both EMV and magnetic stripe);
plus customized solutions specific to customer or regional/national needs.

Easy Management

ProtectHost White provides secure, easy to perform local management plus infield servicing. Easy interaction and key management are achieved using GUI based console operations incorporating a clearly structured menu based navigation system with intuitive dialog box interaction. Smart cards provide the highest security and administrative convenience for secure backup, recovery and transfer of cryptographic keys and upgrades can be cost efficiently performed at the in-field location avoiding the need to open or disassemble the unit, or the cost to return the product to the service location.
